SPECIAL USE INSTRUCTIONS:

1. When the ambient temperature will be 32°F or below, customers should turn the chiller off and drain it prior to freezing temps. If water freezes inside the chiller, it will break.
2. Customers should not set the temperature below 37°F. Water at the cooling coils will be colder than the set point. Setting the temperature below 37°F has the potential of forming ice inside the chiller.
3. Customers should not use a timer. The chillers are designed for having the temperature set and then being left to adjust. It is completely okay for them to change the set temperature if the chiller has multiple users.
4. Customers should check their filter weekly. A dirty filter will cause back pressure on the chiller, causing damage to it. Plan to change the filter every 2-3 weeks. Some people may need to change their filter weekly based on the cleanliness of the water (usually the result of not keeping water cold and not using a water stabilizer).

Whether you are new to cold therapy or a seasoned pro, you are likely doing it for the benefits that exposure to cold offers rather than the physical workout you’ll get from lugging all the ice needed to keep up with it. Let’s face it – keeping up with the amount of ice needed to keep an ice bath cold can get to be quite the burden.  Our chiller will keep your ice bath cold effortlessly, this should lead to more consistent and frequent usage. Make the most out of your ice bath by turning it into an iceless bath!

The chiller can reach into the low 40°F, even down into high 30°F with the right conditions.  Ambient temps and sun exposure account for the majority of the heat load on a cold therapy tub (your body heat is insignificant compared to the sun).  Reducing the external heat load will improve chiller performance.  Low to mid 40°F should be possible on this setup even in full sun / less than ideal conditions.

COST TO RUN (LOWER THAN EXPECTED):

At $0.12/KWh the monthly cost of operation should be around $15-$25/month.  The compressor and fan only turn on when cooling is needed, once the water reaches your set point they turn off and only the low wattage pump continues to run.

A common question we get revolves around setting the chiller up on a timer. Ideally, you’ll want to keep the water cold at all times. There are a few reasons for this –

1. Cold water keeps bacteria (slimy walls) largely under control by slowing or stopping their growth.  This significantly reduces the amount of maintenance needed to keep your water clean for longer periods of time.   This means less frequent water changes and that much lower levels of sanitizer being an effective doses (chlorine/hydrogen peroxide/etc).
2. If you are using it on a regular basis the amount of potential power savings will be fairly insignificant, the heat it would gain in the “off” period still needs to be removed when you turn it back on. So, if running is normally cost $18-$28/month you might be able to save $1-$3/month. However, you will have to change water and the filter more often, so it is unlikely to be a net cost savings.
3. When you cut power to the chiller you also cut power to the pump.  Pumps get the most wear and tear during startup, that’s when a pump is most likely to fail as well. Cycling the power to the chiller is just adding unnecessary wear and tear to the pump.

Cancelation Policy

For Penguin Chiller products, please note any orders canceled within their lead time, prior to shipping, will be subject to a 6% cancellation fee.

Return Policy

Returns must be requested within 21 days of the original shipment. All returns must be pre-approved prior to shipping your item back to us. All returned items must be in their original condition, with original packaging. A 20% stocking fee applies to all approved returns. When returning a product for a refund, you are responsible for paying all shipping costs. Original shipping costs are non-refundable. There are no refunds available on custom-ordered products or chillers.

Refund Process
If upon receiving and inspecting a returned product, it is found to not be in its original condition, the return is subject to rejection. If your refund is approved, your refund will be processed and a credit will be applied to your original method of payment. All refunds may take up to 14 days to process the paperwork and issue your refund.

Warranty Shipping Information
Shipping costs during a warranty claim are the responsibility of the customer. If the customer requests, we can assist them in getting a discounted return shipping label through our shipping contacts. However the customer is responsible for cost of this discounted shipping label. Because the customer assumes all risks for loss or damage during return shipment, we require all packages being shipped back to us be INSURED and properly packaged for safe transport. If your warranty claim is approved, Penguin Chillers will repair or replace the chiller at our discretion. We will then properly package and return ship the chiller back to you at no additional cost within the continental 48 states. Surcharges may apply if shipping outside of the continental 48 states.
