SPECIAL USE INSTRUCTIONS:

1. When the ambient temperature will be 32°F or below, customers should turn the chiller off and drain it prior to freezing temps. If water freezes inside the chiller, it will break.
2. Customers should not set the temperature below 37°F. Water at the cooling coils will be colder than the set point. Setting the temperature below 37°F has the potential of forming ice inside the chiller.
3. Customers should not use a timer. The chillers are designed for having the temperature set and then being left to adjust. It is completely okay for them to change the set temperature if the chiller has multiple users.
4. Customers should check their filter weekly. A dirty filter will cause back pressure on the chiller, causing damage to it. Plan to change the filter every 2-3 weeks. Some people may need to change their filter weekly based on the cleanliness of the water (usually the result of not keeping water cold and not using a water stabilizer).

*Please note your setup needs to gravity prime to the pump, the pump is not capable of self priming/suction.   Place the chiller within 3′ of the drain of your tub, the bottom of the chiller should be at the same or lower height compared to the bottom of your tub – do not elevate the chiller above the tub.  An overly long tubing run from the tub drain to the chiller inlet may cause the pump to fail to move enough water.

Return Policy

All purchases are final unless the product arrives significantly damaged due to shipping errors. Exceptions are if your product arrives with significant shipping damage, please let us know right away. We’re here to help. Once a purchase is authorized, we typically can’t process refunds. We appreciate your understanding in refraining from chargebacks on authorized purchases. If you have concerns, we’re always happy to discuss them.

Warranty Shipping Information
Shipping costs during a warranty claim are the responsibility of the customer. If the customer requests, we can assist them in getting a discounted return shipping label through our shipping contacts. However the customer is responsible for cost of this discounted shipping label. Because the customer assumes all risks for loss or damage during return shipment, we require all packages being shipped back to us be INSURED and properly packaged for safe transport. If your warranty claim is approved, Penguin Chillers will repair or replace the chiller at our discretion. We will then properly package and return ship the chiller back to you at no additional cost within the continental 48 states. Surcharges may apply if shipping outside of the continental 48 states.

The High Efficiency (HE) models feature an enhanced titanium coil, larger than that of the standard models. This increase in coil size expands the surface area and the duration of contact with water, leading to improved cooling efficiency.

Despite this enhancement, both the HE and standard models operate with the identical compressor, ensuring that power consumption remains consistent. Thus, the HE models achieve superior cooling performance without increasing energy use.

The 3/4 HP CT chiller is built specifically for cold therapy . It comes with the quick connecting fittings for the hoses, is outdoor rated, more durable so you don’t have to worry as much about it getting wet. It comes with a built in pump so you don’t have to research and source your own, and it has an inline screen to catch large debris.

Will this work for my tub size?

The 3/4HP is ideal for tubs up to 100-150 gallons. Your mileage will vary depending on how much insulation your tub has, your desired temperature, the ambient temperature, and whether or not it’s sitting in the sun.

Do I need anything else?

The Penguin Chillers Cold Therapy Chiller was designed for easy setup for cold plunge applications. If you add the installation & filter kit upgrade listed above, you’ll have everything you need to connect this to your tub. However, if your cold plunge tub has a 3/4″ inlet, you may need an adapter to connect the chiller to the tub or bore out a bigger 1″ hole on your tub.

Can I use this chiller outdoors?

Yup! This 3/4HP unit is the only Penguin Chillers model that is outdoor rated and rain-proof*. However, it shouldn’t be used in freezing or near freezing temperatures. Be sure to disconnect the chiller and drain it completely when ambient temperatures are freezing or below to prevent damage to the chiller.

Can I use this chiller with my bathtub?

You sure can! However, you’ll need to devise your own method for mounting the hoses so they stay put in the tub during use. If a hose slips out, it can burn out your pump, so be absolutely certain they are secured in the water. For bathtub use, you will need to prime the chiller prior to use! The pump is not capable of self-priming/suction. The bottom of the chiller should be at the same or lower height compared to the bottom of your tub – do not elevate the chiller above the tub. An overly long tubing run from the tub drain to the chiller inlet may cause the pump to fail to move enough water.

Can I set my chiller up on a timer?

Ideally, you’ll want to keep the water cold at all times. Maintaining constant cold water controls bacterial growth, reduces maintenance, and keeps sanitizer use low. Regular use can actually save power, as downtime heat must be re-cooled. Power cycling also adds wear to the pump as most wear occurs during startup, risking failure and offering little cost benefit.

Can I use salt water or additives?

You sure can! The Penguin Chillers Cold Therapy Chiller is designed to accommodate a variety of ice bath additives. It’s fully compatible with salt water solutions, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of mineral-rich soaks. Most ice bath additives pose no issue for this robust chiller, giving you the freedom to customize your therapy. However, it’s wise to avoid oil-based additives like coconut oil, which could potentially affect the system’s performance.
